Looking for some good news

A young mom died in our community today.  I didn't know her well at all--I racked my brain trying to remember when we first met...Perhaps she came in the store I managed years ago, maybe the pool, maybe at a Bunco game where she may have been a sub?

The point is, she died suddenly.  She left behind a husband and 4 children.  And her family and friends are stricken with shock and grief, I am sure.  She likely had plans next week and next month. And at her age, 47 years old, she died far too young for any of us to understand.

I can't turn on the news for good news...it is not there.  Our governor decided to announce today that schools in MD could go back and it was up to the districts to decide when.  I have seen people applaud loudly and protest loudly.  I am concerned for the teachers, perhaps even more than the children.  I have seen claims that this is really hurting our mental health, especially our children's....what happens to our teachers--what happens to their health when they go back to school?  To their mental health?

I have two teachers in my family: one going back to school and one teaching virtually.  Both are uneasy by this.  The one going worries about getting sick...knowing that schools do not always have enough soap in the dispensers, much less wiping down hands, faucets, doorknobs.  The other fears for the kids that cannot get on the computer, those whose parents are not patient with the lessons or whose parents have to work and cannot teach.  Where does one decide the priority?

And then I go back to this family.  Their wife, mother, daughter helped 12 people with organ donations today.  TWELVE people got a new life because this person no longer has her own.  The most selfless act that anyone can give is the gift of an organ.  Godspeed to this resident of our little town--and many blessings to those who live on with these gifts.  May God keep her family in the palm on His hand.  I'm sure they will need His watchful eye for many years to come.
